As I See

Apr 22, 2008 ... Teng Chang Kim as Dewan Speaker

Tagged:

I fully agreed with the Selangor MB that YB Teng is the best candidate for the Selangor State Assembly Speaker. We were together for 3 terms and I dare say that I have also seen him many times being “bullied” by BN members.

Now that he will be on the other side, he can either take revenge or conduct the Assembly properly, i.e. treat everyone whether Pakatan Rakyat (PR) or Barisan Nasional (BN) representatives fairly. I believe he will choose the later. If it is so, he shall set the trend that every speaker in whatever State Assembly or Parliament should treat all members fairly, no matter which political divide they are from. This can be seen in matured democracies. We will then see better debate and I believe this is one of the indications of proper democracy.

Apr 18, 2008 ... How I spent my RM500,000 state allocation

Tagged:

Recently, the papers had reported that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Selangor State Government had asked how the former BN State Assemblymen (including me) spent our RM500,000 funds within two months.

Basically, as BN state representatives, we received funds starting from RM150,000 to lately RM500,000 per year for use in our constituencies. The funds are kept at the respective district offices. We can instruct the fund to go directly to an organisation, pay first and claim later or claim first and pay later.

Apr 8, 2008 ... Blog: Who Should Be MPSJ Councillors?

Tagged:

It is interesting to see so many Subang Jaya / USJ residents wanting to be appointed to the MPSJ council. Rightly so, they have the moral standing. After all, the residents have voted against the old system and hence it is fair that they want a say in the running of MPSJ. No more based on political appointments.

Apr 3, 2008 ... A loss is a loss. Full stop.

Nearly a month after the general election, the dust has not settled yet. People have still not grasp the actual effect of the results of the election. Even candidates, whether winners or losers, have not come to terms with it.

SUBANG JAYA DRAFT MASTER PLAN

Tagged:

The MPSJ Draft Master Plan is on display in MPSJ until 28th December 2007.  The public can also buy a copy from MPSJ at RM100.00 per set.  I have also given a copy to all JKP heads (Zone 1 to 5 only).

Members of the public must file any objections to the draft master plan by 28th December 2007.  Only those who object will be invited to attend a hearing and given a chance to explain their objection(s) at the hearing.

Oct 10, 2007 ... My comments to KJ John's article "Heart of the matter"

Tagged:

wish to refer to the comments by KJ John on a single BN party in his column “Heart of the matter” on Oct 9, 2007.  The proposal by Gerakan and the points put up by KJ John sounded very good. I agree with them on the logic of having a single party to do away with racial party.  We all agreed that racial relationship in Malaysia is worse now as compared to 50 years ago.

Malaysiakini, Oct 9, 2007 ... "Heart of the matter" by KJ John

Last week the headlines in almost all the newspapers read, ‘Give a heart!’. Just about everyone understood that the need was for a heart donor for teenager Tee Hui Yi, who has been surviving on a mechanical heart.

Oct 1, 2007 ... My comments on K J John's article "How to vote in the next election"

Tagged:

I am the State Assemblyman that called K J John when I read his earlier column stating his non support of the BN candidates, especially in his constituency.

I fully agree with him that the personal character of a candidate is also as important as the party the candidate represent.

Malaysiakini, Oct 1, 2007 ... How to vote in the next election ... by K J John

A number of people replied to my last column; many in support of what I wrote and one in particular registering a protest that I generalised too much from my own experience in my own constituency.

He is a state assemblyperson and felt that he has been a very responsible and credible one, and that my generalisation may hurt him too. I apologise, but I was only talking to my state and parliamentary representatives.

Aug 30, 2007 ... Election for Local Authorities

Tagged:

A lot of calls have been made by many people or NGO's for direct elections for local authorities.  The official stand of the BN Government is that local elections which were terminated in the early sixties will not be renewed.  Those who calls for elections gave the reasons of better accountability and transparency.
