Who Should Be MPSJ Councillors?

It is interesting to see so many Subang Jaya / USJ residents wanting to be appointed to the MPSJ council. Rightly so, they have the moral standing. After all, the residents have voted against the old system and hence it is fair that they want a say in the running of MPSJ. No more based on political appointments.

I have said many times before in public including in an interview by Nades and Terence from the Sun 3 years ago that the best way where local authority can be transparent and accountable is through direct elections. As this is governed by federal laws, the next best alternative or intermediary measure (assuming direct elections will happen later) is to accept nominees from residents’ associations and NGO’s.

There are 24 councillors and 1 YDP in MPSJ. How many will the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) reserve for their members and how many will be given to outsiders? Also, there are 5 parliamentary seats (either fully or partially) under MPSJ, i.e. Kelana Jaya (Subang Jaya state), Puchong (Kinrara and Sri Serdang), Serdang (Seri Kembangan), Shah Alam (Batu 3) and Kota Raja (Sri Muda). How many will go to each parliament and how will the division between PKR, DAP and PAS?

Previously, the breakdown were as follows :-

So far, we can see only residents in Subang Jaya / USJ seeking for councillorships but not the other areas. Also these people are asking through DAP. It is hard to believe that DAP Subang Jaya can be given so many places. DAP state leaders have to consider DAP in Puchong and Serdang too. What about PKR and PAS from the 5 parliamentary seats?

Hence, it is interesting to note what the final outcome would be. However, I can be sure Subang Jaya / USJ residents would be disappointed. Basically, the PR government cannot give so many places to DAP Subang Jaya.

We are so used to identifying MPSJ to Subang Jaya and USJ only and we forgot the other areas under MPSJ.

The appointments will be soon and like all of you, I am eagerly waiting for the appointments.

Dato Lee,
Its very nice of you to post the breakdown given to different political parties in the previous government. I think you have a valid point and the usj.com.my website has names of many residents wanting a place in MPSJ. If all gets in, whether on their own or thru DAP Subang, i truly pity those areas like Puchong and Seri Kembangan. I can only hope that those people who offer themselves are sincere in wanting to serve the public, be it in Subang or any other areas under MPSJ's jurisdiction. I can also see some happy people and some sad when the new line up for MPSJ is announced. I have no doubt about the saying, new broom sweeps clean.

I am also waiting eagerly for the appointments to be finalised but not for the same reason as you . ...........

Prophet of doom already ah,YBhg?
Your prophetic vision can foresee dissappointment with the PR govt BUT did not foresee that Kelana Jaya will be dissappointed with you and, by extrapolation, your running mate, Madam Ong.

But then I digress ............. what made you think that the PR govt must give "so many places to DAP Subang Jaya" ?
If thats what it eventually turns out .............. so be it, as long as the appointments are based on merit.
Why shouldnt they base it purely on merit ?
Oh yes, of course I forgot, "MERIT" is a word alien to BN fellows.

It would not be too clever of those people ( whom you refer to as "WE" ) to identify MPSJ with Subang Jaya and USJ only. If the erstwhile BN state govt did, they deserve to have been kicked out and they should remain out.

But then I digress ................ if the best came from Subang and USJ only, so be it. But "BEST" according to PR govt benchmark lah not the tried and failed BN benchmark. ; -)

Who is this shortsighted "we" again ? What this "we" sees "so far" is wrong ?
Even BSRA has forwarded names.
You commented with info that was way before closing date of nominations and drew a rather dumb conclusion from such partial info.
Even if it were so, it would only mean that only the people from these areas seem interested and willing to contribute .............. so why is it an issue worth mulling over ?

But then I digress .............. how else should it have been handled ? The PR govt asked people to apply. More than 1000 applied. PR govt will pick the best that suit the various portfolios or that can work IMPARTIALLY as councillors in MPSJ. I.e ON MERIT.
In the process, if Bandar Sunway nominee is not chosen so be it.
What other way ?
(4) "Also these people are asking through DAP. It is hard to believe that DAP Subang Jaya can be given so many places. DAP state leaders have to consider DAP in Puchong and Serdang too."
I can imagine Dato Lee that you feel like a fish out of water when you try to comprehend the new rules of the game.
Pinch yourself ......... take 10 deep breaths and come back to reality ............ BN IS NO MORE.
The PR govt does not use these appointments to the council as a way to reward PR faithfuls. That was what BN used to do i.e. like a robber baron distributing the spoils to their followers for their faithfulness and slavish subservience. Merit never played a role. Only know-who.

But then I digress ................... why should the PR govt adhere to your tried and failed formula for such appointment.

(5) "What about PKR and PAS from the 5 parliamentary seats?"
There you go again muck raking .......

But then I digress .............. so what about them ?

Your tabulation only serves to show how the Robber Baron ( UMNOputras ) rewarded their clutch of thieves i.e. BN component parties.
So what do you want the PR govt to do with the table that shows the manner in which the BN vultures distributed MPSJ councilorship like it was their personal fiefdom.

Does Tropicana, where you stay, come under the purview of MPSJ ? Or are you on this topic cos Subang Jaya was your "home" ( as oppossed to Loh Seng Kok who was only a "guest" ) for several terms ?
