I agree with YB Hannah Yeoh's contention that she should be allowed to attend the Sekolah Menengah Subang Utama Prefects' Reunion. Afterall she was the former head prefect of that school. The school should be proud that one of their alma mater is now their local wakil rakyat.
However we cannot really blame the school authorities. They are just following a directive issued by the Ministry of Education which bar all wakil rakyats from both divides from being invited to school functions.
I believe all politicians both from the BN and PR must take cognition of the new political realities. The current political situation where PR won 5 state governments and BN does not have two-thirds majority in the Parliament is something very new to everyone.
I personally believe that all governments departments should be neutral to both BN and PR wakil rakyats. They should treat all wakil rakyats equally and give them the respect as elected reps.
Hence as Hannah Yeoh and a section of the public is angry over the SMSU issue, the PR state government should also change. Will BN wakil rakyat from the 5 controlled PR states be invited to functions organise by the agencies under the 5 PR state government ? As the PR MP's in the Federal Territory protested at being left out of DBKL, the BN wakil rakyats in Sepang, Sabak Bernam, Ulu Selangor, etc can similarly complain about being left out of their respective local councils.
In my view, the faster everyone wake up and adjust to the existing political reality, the better it would be for the rakyat. We all must adjust to make the government departments neutral to all political parties. Afterall all politician claim to fight for the rakyats. In a democracy, the winner must also take care of those who have voted against them. Hence government departments must be made to serve all rakyats.
Wake Up !
