PETALING JAYA : Former Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng appeals to the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government to review its decision to demolish cabins set up by resident committees in the municipality.

Lee, also a former Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) councillor said: "Most of these were set up by resident committees appointed by MPSJ themselves with the necessary approvals from the MPSJ, and is used for meetings and community activities.

"If the residents are okay with the occupation of such open spaces in their neighbourhood then they should be allowed to continue, " said Lee.

He said he had received complaints from some of the resident committees who had received notices to move or vacate their cabins.

On Wednesday, state executive councillor for local authorities and research and development Ronnie Liu said the state had issued notices asking owners of cabins on open areas and playgrounds all over the state to move out in 30 days which expires this week.

Liu, however, said the owners can appeal to the authorities.

Lee who is also Selangor MCA vice-chairman and Kelana Jaya MCA chairman said demolishing the cabins would be a waste of public funds as the money for the cabins were given by MPSJ.

"About RM20,000 was given to the committees for this purpose, so the state government should think this through carefully because in this case, these are not cabins owned by political parties but set up by residents, "he said.

For every action ther must be an explanation as we are living in a democratic country.

Pakatan Rakyat cannot just remove those cabins meant for the resident committees' activities. Besides, all these have been approved by MPSJ.

Pakatan Rakyat must provide we residents with valid reasons for the cabin removal. Why waste our assessment monies for no reasons.
