Dear Philip Ng,
The idea of the SJ Uptown is to revive the back lanes and bring night life into SS15 commercial area.
The principle of the privitisation is that the back lanes will be turned into car parking till 8.30pm. The stalls which should NOT include food, VCD and permanent in nature can only commence after 8.30pm. By this method, MPSJ and the area benefits additional car parks. The stalls at night will bring back life.
However, this operator is not following the spirit of the privitisation agreement. The stalls commence business before 8.30pm. Some structures are permanent.VCD and food are sold. Only monthly car parks are allowed instead of hourly car park.
Samson and I have complained to MPSJ. We are pressing MPSJ to terminate this company. I am receiving a lot of complains from the shopkeepers like you.
Bye.
Yours In Service,
Lee Hwa Beng

Dear Dato Lee,
Further to below by Mr. Samson, I wish to point out that the back lanes were a walking mall in concept, the shops are dual frontage. The 3 rows of roads on the other side of the shops are narrow compared to those of other areas, example in Taipan area. This is probably due to the walking mall concept.
Now MPSJ leased the back lanes out, that amounts to robbing the shop frontage of these 3 rows. I really like to know the rationale of this move. Who keeps watch over the interest of the shop owners and business operators, especially the restaurant operators.I hope you can take up this task.
Thank you.
Regards
Philip Ng
