THE bonding among the players’ families – young and old – has prompted Dexion Asia to support Wildcats, one of the top local ice hockey teams in Malaysia.
Dexion Asia managing director Frank Johnstone said he was impressed with the camaraderie among the players, officials and family members in the Wildcats team.
“We have been closely associated with Wildcats for almost a year and we are convinced of their dedication to ice hockey. The officials are committed to grooming young players. But, the most important factor is the interaction among the family members comprising different races.

“They have only one aim – to promote and develop ice hockey in Malaysia. We want to be part of Wildcats’ vision,” Johnstone said after handing over a RM30,300 sponsorship to Wildcats adviser Datuk Lee Hwa Beng.
Lee, the patron of Kelab Hoki Ais Saga (Khas), the organisers of the three-division Adun Subang Jaya Ice Hockey league, said they were grateful to Dexion Asia for the support.

“Ice hockey is still in its infancy in Malaysia. Malaysia took part in the Asian Winter Games for the first time early this year, in Changchun, China. It was a historic outing and Dexion Asia had contributed without any qualms.” Lee said. Now they have come forward to support the Wildcats. We certainly appreciate Dexion Asia’s financial and moral support.”
Johnstone said the Wildcats’ approach to excellence was in line with Dexion’s vision in the industry.
“Dexion is an Asian company dominating the market with world-class storage solutions, designs, products and services. Our values include integrity, excellence and innovation, and we see the same values in the Wildcats,” said Johnstone.
The Dexion Asia sponsorship is to support Wildcats’ participation in the World Ice Hockey 5s in Hong Kong and another championship in Bangkok later this year.
Wildcats team manager Susan Loh, a diminutive woman dedicated to the development of ice hockey in Malaysia, said Dexion Asia’s financial support had eased their burden.
“Most of the players are young and need some subsidy. Dexion Asia’s contribution will go towards helping the players,” Loh said.
