Work resumes on stalled projects
LAGOON Perdana and Belvedere Service Apartment buyers can now sigh in relief as their abandoned apartment projects have been revived.
Both projects, located in USJ 9/1A, Bandar Sunway, were left idle since 2005 after the previous developer faced financial problems.

“The Lagoon Perdana project was about 50% completed and the Belvedere Service Apartment was only 20% completed when abandoned by Tenaga Gagah Sdn Bhd. I am glad the projects are being revived and the owners can look forward to having their units completed soon,” said Subang Jaya state assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng who visited the site recently.
He said the Lagoon Perdana project, which has been taken over by IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, was expected to be completed in 19 months.
Meanwhile, the Belvedere Service Apartment is expected to be handed over in 27 months from now.
Lee said the revival of the housing projects were made possible after a series of meetings with all the parties involved.
However, he said, all the 1,500 buyers of both projects had agreed to waive the compen-sation for the late delivery of their homes.
One of the 500 buyers of the Belvedere Service Apartment, Muhamad Faizal Zainuddin, said he was glad the project had been revived, despite having to waive the late delivery compensation.
“We just want the project to go on and have our homes ready. We have been waiting for too long for it already,” he said during the visit.
IJM’s finance director Loy Boon Chen said work on the projects resumed a few days ago and that the units would be ready in stages.
Like others, I am one of the buyer of Lagoon Perdana, victimized, hopeless and really do not know what to do and who to go to. It's been over 3 months since we last got an update on this project but to our disappoinment nothing happens till today. Seriously, stop giving excuses and whoever responsible, just get your act together. If Lee Hwa Beng is not the right person, please direct us to the right party to liaise with cause we have been waiting for a very long time. Like many of the other LP buyers, I have waited more than 6 years and been paying the Bank since then but not getting anything in return. We are not even asking for additional repayment for the delay. All we are asking is to have the apartment completed immediately, according to the original specifications! We hope our plea will not go to deaf ears. Please advise us!!!!
