Subject: Overdevelopment and Traffic Problem
YB Dato' Lee,
I wish to refer to last Friday' report in the Metro Edition, Sin Chew which quoted you as saying " MPSJ would find solutions to overcome the traffic nightmare in USJ" . The report also mentioned about the six road projects that MPSJ are embarking on. Good effort and wish you success!!
YB, on the same day, I was caught by the traffic jam at road SS16/1. I had to take about 15 minutes to clear the stretch from Mesiniaga to Carrefour at between 6.35 to 6.50pm, a stretch of half a km.
YB, are there any solution to solve the problem there? As you know, many more commercial and residential buildings are coming up at SS16 and apparently they are allowed to be constructed without any consideration of over-development, traffic flow and nightmarish congestion at all. Buildings are allowed to be built to maximize whatever land spaces they have, without caring about what they harm or problems they would create ! Traffic conjestion is already a problem there during peak hours. What more when more of these building are up and occupied? What more with the proposed LRT also to be squeezed into the same area?
HAS MPSJ EVER THOUGHT OF THE PROBLEM OR EVER TRY TO FIND A SOLUTION TO IT? Has MPSJ got any guidelines to govern these projects? Should they be also subject to the same ruling of setting aside 2 ha of open space per 1000 residents that they are going to bring about? IT SHOULD ONLY BE FAIR THAT THEY BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME RULING. DO YOU AGREE, YB?
In addition, what about the First Subang project where a twin tower blocks are being squeezed onto a 1.5 acre land plot? Do they have no responsiblity of setting aside any open spaces on a pro-rata basis?
YB, we would like to hear from you what plans MPSJ has to address these issues.
Rdgs

Dear Leyu,
I think the very fact that there are a lot of infra jobs being carried out in Subang Jaya showed that MPSJ and me are paying a lot of attention to traffic problem. Only that I beg for your understanding that MPSJ too have to take care of Puchong, Kinrara, Serdang, etc and also to spend funds other than infra jobs.
FYI, the Sin Chew report also quoted me that a contractor has been appointed to build 2 pedestrian bridges (SS19 / SS17 and USJ 13 / USJ 11). It take pride that Subang Jaya State Constituency has the most no. of pedestrian bridges in Malaysia.
Yours In Service,
Lee Hwa Beng
