Subject: Re: NEXT STEP - Sime UEP
I hate to mention this. I have worked in the Land Office and the Pejabat Tanah dan Galian where they dealt with land matters. All land acquisition by the govt is done under Section 8 of the National Land Code 1967 are the money paid out are all PUBLIC money. The criteria is all to be acquired are for public use only such as public infrastructures like hospitals, roads, etc etc. Today, after the recent amendment to the NLC, the govt can acquire anyone's land and grant it to a private body at a premium in the name of urbanisation. So I don't see any reason why the state govt cannot acquire back the land by either compensating Sime UEP or exchange for other plot of land elsewhere. When the DG of the Selangor Planning Unit Dr Halimaton said that it was a mistake that the land ended up in the hands of SIME UEP, we should find out how this mistake came about. I have a friend whose bank account was credited with RM 1,000,000 by mistake by Bank Bumi and this was shown in his bank passbook. But in the end the mistake was rectified. If he went ahead to use the money, he would be charged for CBT. The problem we are facing is everybody here is, we are like the mice all calling someone to bell the terrorising cat but the question is who is going to do it. The only way out is to set up a fund and engage a lawyer to fight this issue full time. Are we prepared to do it or else 5-10 years later this issue will boomerang back.

Subject: Dr Halimaton's mistake
Dear P C Yeoh,
I have mentioned before on this issue. When Puan Halimaton made this statement, she thought Subang Ria was part of the SS12 – SS19 title. If it was so, it is definitely a mistake of the State Government to give the title back to Sime UEP. As mentioned before, the then MDP and the State Government already provided for the then 5% open space requirement of the SS12 – SS19 project in the 70’s.
Taman Subang Ria was alienated to Sime UEP in 1987. Hence there is no connection between SS12 – SS19 approved in the 70’s and Taman Subang Ria when it was alienated in 1987, more than 10 years later.
I am only surprised nobody brought up this “Dr Halimaton mistake” during the hearing. The current State planner, who was sitting on my left was ready to answer on this issue.
As for Theresa’s comment, when did this land belong to the public. Truth is truth!
Bye.
