Folks object to LRT route in draft plan
RESIDENTS of SS14 Subang Jaya said at a gathering on Saturday that they do not want the LRT to cut into their neighbourhood.
They said the draft local plan contained a map of the proposed LRT route that would travel above their homes.
“By cutting across homes, residents will suffer from the noise created by the LRT,” said Residents Committee Zone 1 chairman Dr Mohd Zamzam Jaafar during the gathering at the Sri KL school in SS15 Subang Jaya.
The Zone 1 committee represents residents staying in SS12 to SS19.
“And therefore, we are strongly against the proposed route.''
Also present at the gathering was Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng.
He said he agreed with the residents that the LRT should not go past residential areas.
“We want the LRT, but it must not go above people's homes. In fact, we put in an alternative route but it was not taken into account.
“If we did not propose an alternative route, then it's a different story,” said Lee.
He added that the route drafted in the master plan was done by a consultant together with Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad but was not approved at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) level.
“This may not be the final route, as things are not finalised yet, but residents have filed their objections to the draft plan.
“Homes are where people come back to for some quiet moments and if there is no peace of mind, then it defeats the purpose. Of course, the alternative route may incur extra cost, but there's no choice,” he said.
